Relationships, Sex & Health Education
Providing weekly Personal, Social, Health, and Economic (PSHE) lessons aims to support the holistic development of students by addressing various aspects of their personal and social wellbeing. These lessons cover a broad range of topics including emotional health, relationships, substance abuse, financial literacy, internet safety, and career guidance.
The goal is to equip students with essential life skills, foster their emotional and social development and prepare them to make informed decisions in their personal and professional lives. Through regular PSHE sessions, we seek to create a supportive environment that promotes the overall mental and physical health of students, enhancing their ability to succeed both academically and in life beyond school. Where an issue is of particular relevance to a student we offer bespoke 1:1 sessions, tailored to individual needs, this will be delivered in collaboration with the health team by the college.
Weekly personal development sessions aim to develop students' cultural capital and understanding of the wider world. For those unable to leave the unit, we host various events throughout the year, including virtual activities like "meet an author" sessions, tertiary education providers, ex-students and more.
